Africa, the solidarity doll
Do you know África, the solidarity doll? África is an amigurumi doll that can help improve the living conditions of children in the Ethiopian community of Walmara. The NGO Abay is responsible for promoting this project and has been working in Walmara and Addis Ababa since 2009, improving the development of their communities. África is the doll that aims to continue weaving this network of help between people. The objective is to raise funds through the sale of these dolls and support the Canguro kindergarten that Abay has in the Gaba Kemisa medical center. With just one doll, more than 250 children can continue to receive education, food, and healthcare.

The basic pattern used was donated by "La Crochetería" and the first doll made was created by Reme, from Torrent. Since then, this beautiful project has only grown, with people joining from all over Spain. Knitters, sellers, and accountants are now part of this initiative, which demonstrates that great things can be achieved with small actions. At Lola y Lana, we also do our part and collaborate with our Caricia Frescor and Caricia Nature materials for the creation of these dolls.
