Discover Para Ti Como Tú, our new collaborator

Today, we get to know a little more about the winner of our challenge "Take your passion for knitting further" and new Lanas Caricia collaborator: Toñi, known on social media as Para Ti Como Tú.

 

The team was eager to discover more about her, her career, and her daily life as a designer and knitter. Her enthusiasm and dedication captivated us from minute one. The April Set, consisting of a multi-position shawl, a bag, a scrunchie, a pendant, and a bracelet – 5 beautiful, meticulously crafted pieces to combine perfectly – was the project she designed for the challenge and which ultimately took first place.

1. What led you to decide to participate in the "Take your passion for knitting further" challenge?

 

I teach crochet and creative sewing workshops, and it seemed very stimulating to step out of my comfort zone and face such an attractive proposal.

 

I love creating, continuously learning, and experimenting, so when I saw it on social media, I didn't hesitate, as regardless of the outcome, participating would bring me all of that.

 

2. How was the experience? How did you feel when you found out that your April Set was the most voted project?

 

The experience was full of many emotions, the first being the desire to live up to the challenge and the fellow participants. That was mixed with excitement, nerves, passion, doubts... In short, I highly recommend it.

 

And when I found out about the prize, I spent a long time crying. After processing it, what I felt most was gratitude: for the new people who come into your life through this hobby/job, and for those who are always there and give meaning to it all.

 

3. What was your main source of inspiration?

 

For the April set, I didn't hesitate. I have a passion for Andalusian fashion and spring, and for creating bags and shawls. In addition, the "Caricia Primavera" yarn was perfect for the idea.

 

4. To whom would you dedicate the prize?

 

I dedicate the prize to the same person who inspires me every day and from whom the name of my Instagram profile came: my MOTHER. I feel that the full name should be "For you, Like you...mom," but I simplified it.

 

5. How and when did you discover your passion for knitting?

 

My mother had a yarn shop in my own home, and I lived her passion and art day by day. Those were different times, and I grew up with all crafts as something you had to know, but my path was in academics. I studied Economics and worked in a bank until I took a leave of absence to care for my children. Then I resumed that creative life that had filled me so much, combining it with what I love so much, which is teaching. There was no turning back, and I decided to fully commit to this.

 

6. What is your favorite Lanas Caricia material?

 

It depends on the project. Caricia Primavera, Caricia Nature, and Eco cordón, I like them a lot. I can't pick just one!

 

7. What does knitting bring you? How would you encourage those curious people who haven't yet taken the plunge to get started in this world?

 

Knitting is a creative activity that stimulates many facets, from physical (dexterity, precision...) to psychological (relaxation, concentration, satisfaction) and exercises the mind.

 

It is a very complete activity on an individual level, but it also implies a way of understanding fashion and consumption at a societal level: "slow fashion" versus fast fashion. The added value of our work and the time dedicated gives it a special value, in addition to being able to customize your garments.

 

8. The team is eager to accompany you on this exciting journey, discover a little more about you, and see all the projects to come. Can you give us any hints about upcoming projects?

 

There's a summer garment that keeps circling in my head.

 

But most of all, bags. I love bags, and the brighter, the better.
