Introducing Tejer es de Guapas, a new collaborator with Lanas Caricia!

We were eager to tell you about her, as her journey is one of those that captivate and inspire. Her wonderful creations, characterized by their originality and designed to make each and every one of her followers feel unique and special, have already captivated many knitting enthusiasts through her Instagram profile and her YouTube channel.

How and when did you discover your passion for knitting?

When I was little, my mother taught me the basics of sewing, crochet, and knitting, but I didn't enjoy it much then. Years passed, and I gave it a second chance, especially crochet. And then, yes, I fell in love with it; it even changed my life.

What is the origin of "Tejer es de guapas" (Knitting is for pretty girls)?

Every time I showed my designs, everyone encouraged me to create a YouTube channel to explain the process in tutorials. One day, I took the plunge and said, "Well, here we go," and here we are, after a year of making waves and eager to keep growing.

A project you remember with special affection? And the creation that has been most successful among your followers?

The first video, "Jersey Amistad" (Friendship Sweater), which was also knitted with one of my favorite materials, recycled cotton Nature, was for me "The beginning of a beautiful friendship."

The garment that has had the most impact on the channel has been the Malala Poncho, but I'm sure many more successes will come.

Your main sources of inspiration?

Fashion in general. For my knitwear designs, I look at both knitted garments and fabrics. Whenever I can, I try to adapt many fabric designs to knitting; I think that's wonderful.

The biggest challenge of knitting as a profession?

The biggest challenge is to make each and every one of our subscribers, no matter who they are or what size they are, feel unique and special with each of the garments I propose every week.

What is your favorite Lanas Caricia material?

It's not my favorite material; I'm in love with Egyptian Perlé, and I'd be delighted to create a unique and special garment that I've had in mind for a long time.

What does knitting bring you? How would you encourage curious people who haven't yet taken the plunge into this world?

Knitting is my yoga, a therapy. It brings well-being to the body and mind. I would invite those who have never knitted to try needles and yarn one day, and then they would understand.

A look back. It's been 1 year since you created your Instagram profile and your YouTube channel, where you have accumulated over 3,000 followers and are nearing 52,000 subscribers, respectively. How do you feel? Did you ever imagine yourself in this situation?

To be honest, at my age, new technologies and social media scared me a little. I didn't even know where to start, and I was very clear that I only wanted to knit, create garments, and that was all I could offer. For all the audiovisual and marketing aspects, Sergio has been my right-hand man. We both started this adventure together, and here we are, with the same enthusiasm as on January 7, 2021. And our expectations were not just met, but exceeded. The truth is that the reception has been incredible. Not even in our wildest dreams could we have imagined something like this.

Finally, any advice for those who want to take their passion to the next level?

Advice? I wouldn't know where to start.

My main advice is to have a lot of enthusiasm and desire and not to expect short-term success or benefits. Be consistent, don't give up, don't lose faith in your dreams, and trust yourselves. (And for what they do trust, ask a professional for help). Above all, HAVE FUN.
