Discover the work of Rebeca Marín
You are about to discover Rebeca Marín's passion for crochet. Known on social media as @madebyrebeca, she has become our new collaborator. As a child, she attentively watched her mother knit, though she eventually lost touch with this early passion. Luckily, eight years ago today, she decided to pick it up again, and now she can't imagine her daily life without knitting. What started as a hobby, making clothes for her children, gradually evolved into an improved technique. Seeing her progress encouraged her to show her creations to others. The first time she entered one of her garments in a competition, she realized what she was capable of: designing a pattern that anyone could replicate. So, she looked for different ways to make a living from it and eventually decided to do so through social media. On her Instagram and YouTube accounts, she mainly has followers from Brazil, Chile, Spain, and Argentina. She tells us that she dedicates many hours to it, but it's worth it to see the success they have among her followers. She also plans to go further and motivate more people to learn from her work in various workshops.

For some time now, Rebeca has also collaborated on solidarity projects, and even if she can't contribute financially, she can do so with her effort. Scarves to help in the fight against breast cancer, amigurumis for the Ames association, and even shawls to raise funds for the food bank in Cuenca. Her latest gesture, along with 56 other crocheters, was during this quarantine, where they promoted the wonderful cause of #patronesxunavacuna (later turned into a book) which helped in the research for a coronavirus vaccine. She initially raised 3,100 euros with her pattern, a shawl made of cotton yarn with degraded violet tones that can be found in her Etsy online store.

She is already planning several new designs with our Caricia qualities. First, she thinks about the pattern she is going to make, then she designs it, lays out the pattern, chooses the appropriate colors... One of her sources of inspiration is Pinterest, although she always ends up giving it a personal touch. Thank you for telling us your story and showing us the designs you make with such care. We will be looking forward to your new creations, Rebeca!
