ABBREVIATIONS
ch: chain sl st: slip stitch sl st blo: slip stitch in back loop only hdc blo: half double crochet in back loop only
PATTERN
- We start by making a chain of 50ch (plus one turning chain that does not count as the first stitch) and then work back a series of *5hdc - 5sl st* repeating this throughout the entire row. - In all subsequent rows, until a total of 66 rows are completed, we will repeat the following series of *5hdc blo - 5sl st blo*. Note: two rows begin with 5hdc blo and two others begin with 5sl st blo; we will alternate this until the end. - Once the rectangle is crocheted, measuring approximately 23x60cm, join the beginning and end of the piece on the wrong side. Close with sl st and leave a long tail. - Turn it right side out and, using the tapestry needle, pass it through every two stitches along one end of the cylinder that has been formed, so that we can gather that side to shape the hat. - Make a pompom, sew it to the gathered end, and it's done!
