Hearts are very fashionable, and even more so this week with the celebration of Valentine's Day. We're joining this trend and suggest knitting a pair of wool hats, perfect for wearing on Valentine's Day.

YOU WILL NEED:

• Caricia Sport yarn, COLOR No. 061, COLOR No. 043, COLOR No. 003, 1 skein of each color (choose your color range)
• Knitting needles No. 4 mm.
• Yarn needle.

STITCHES USED

• Stockinette stitch (see tutorial stockinette stitch)
• Rib stitch (2 knits, 2 purls) (see tutorial rib stitch)

ABBREVIATIONS

• Stitch: st.
• Row: row.
• Knit: k.
• Purl: p.

HOW TO MAKE THE HAT?

   Gray stripe: With gray Caricia Sport yarn, cast on 70 sts and knit 6 rows in rib stitch. Natural stripe: Change to natural color and knit in stockinette stitch for 27 rows. Decrease 1 st on both sides every 9 rows (we decrease 6 sts in total).

Heart

To make the heart, follow the chart, making the shape in pink.

Once the heart shape is finished and all the rows in natural color are completed, continue in gray, knitting 6 rows and decreasing 7 sts proportionally distributed along the row in the last row.

Continue in pink, knit 6 rows, and decrease 7 sts proportionally distributed along the row in the last row.

Repeat this sequence 3 more times, alternating both colors. In the last stripe, we do not decrease any stitches.

To close the hat, thread a yarn needle, taking all the stitches, pull, gather, and secure.

ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING

Sew both sides, starting from the base, and leaving a small opening of half a cm. at the end, at the top, to later insert the cord. 

Cord

Cut 6 strands of yarn 40 cm long in the three colors. Twist until it can't twist anymore, fold and let it coil, make a small knot to secure the strands. Insert the cord through the small hole left at the top of the hat, leaving the knot inside. Close and secure.

Pom-pom

For the pom-pom, cut 10 strands of yarn 27 cm long in the three colors. Group them and insert them through the coiled cord. Fold them. Secure with gray Caricia Sport yarn, making several passes. Secure well with the yarn needle.

FINISHED PRODUCT
