Wool backpack

Women love large backpacks or bags to carry all their accessories and belongings easily. That's why we've designed this pattern: a knitted backpack made with Caricia Veleta yarn.

YOU WILL NEED

• Caricia Veleta yarn col. 042 (4 balls) and col. 015 (2 balls)
• Knitting needles 7 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Crochet hook 6 mm

STITCHES USED

• Stockinette stitch (see tutorial stockinette stitch)
• Double seed stitch (see tutorial double seed stitch)
• Fancy stitch (pocket)

GAUGE

10X10: 12 P. X 17 rows.  

HOW TO MAKE THE WOOL BACKPACK?

With gray Caricia Veleta yarn and 7 mm knitting needles, cast on 18 stitches and work 5 rows in double seed stitch. The next row (wrong side of the work) is all purl.

The next row, knit 3 stitches, yarn over, and knit 2 stitches together, then knit the next 2 stitches. Repeat this operation throughout the row (on the right side of the work).

Continue in stockinette stitch until it measures 90 cm. At this point, yarn over and knit 2 stitches together again, as in the previous step, and work 5 rows in double seed stitch. Close 7 stitches on each side of the work first, and continue with the remaining stitches until it measures 12 cm (all in double seed stitch).

Straps

With blue Caricia Veleta yarn, cast on 4 stitches and work 60 cm in double seed stitch.

Cord

Take 5 strands of blue yarn and make a cord 1.50 cm long. Make a tassel at each end.

Pocket

Also in blue: Cast on 20 stitches and work 5 purl stitches, 5 knit stitches to the end of the row for 3 consecutive rows. Then change the stitch pattern, working for 14 cm.

ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING

Sew the sides of the wool backpack and then crochet around the edge with 1 row of slip stitch using blue Caricia Veleta yarn.

Sew the pocket and the straps. Finally, thread the cord through the top of the backpack.

FINISHED PRODUCT

The yarn we used is quite thick, which makes it very easy to give body to the work. You can choose the colors you like best and even combine more than two!
