Today we dare to make this GreenFalls scarf designed by Rebeca Marín (
@madebyRebeca), the ideal accessory for spring and summer evenings. This time we have used Caricia Recicoton yarn (made from 100% recycled cotton). Its touch is soft and it slides very well on the needle. Will you join us in making it?
YOU WILL NEED:
- 3 balls of Caricia Recicoton blue yarn (num. 004)
- Crochet hook size 4.5
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
You can purchase the materials through the links to our
online store listed above.
HOW TO MAKE THIS SCARF?
Stitches used
CH: Chain SC: Single Crochet DC: Double Crochet SL ST: Slip Stitch
Before you begin
This scarf is crocheted starting from one end and finishing at the other. One side of the scarf is straight and the other has a point in the center. To turn a row, turn the fabric at the end of each row. The last double crochet is always made in the 2nd chain of the previous row's starting chain. We will increase at the beginning of every odd row, by making a double crochet in the same stitch where the chains originate. When reaching the center, we will start decreasing at the beginning of the odd rows, skipping 1 stitch at the beginning of each row. The chains at the beginning and end count as one stitch.
Step by step
We start crocheting our scarf with 4 chains. Row 1: Make a double crochet in the 3rd stitch from the hook. Make a second double crochet in the 2nd base chain. Row 2: Chain 2 (these chains always count as one double crochet). 1 double crochet in the same stitch and 1 double crochet in the 2nd chain of the previous row's starting chain (this last step is repeated in all rows). Row 3: Chain 2, 1 double crochet in the same stitch and 2 double crochets. Row 4: Chain 2 and 3 double crochets. Row 5: Chain 2, 1 double crochet in the same stitch, *skip 1 stitch, make a double crochet in the next. Now make a double crochet in the skipped stitch*. This forms the crossed double crochet stitch. Repeat * until reaching the starting chains of the previous row, where we make 1 double crochet. Row 6: Chain 2. 1 double crochet in the first stitch, make a crossed double crochet over each one we crocheted in the previous row. Finish the row with 2 double crochets. Rows 7 to 82: Repeat rows 3, 4, 5, and 6. Row 83: Chain 2, make a double crochet in the same stitch where the chains originate. Crochet the entire row in double crochet. We will have 44 stitches at the end of this row. Row 84: Crochet the entire row in double crochet. Row 85: Chain 2, make the first double crochet in the 2nd stitch, not counting the chains. This decreases one stitch. The rest of the stitches are crocheted in double crochet. Row 86: Chain 2 and crochet the entire row in double crochet. Row 87: Chain 2, make the first stitch in the 2nd available stitch, not counting the chains. Now start making crossed double crochets until reaching the starting chains of the previous row, where we will make the last double crochet. Row 88: Chain 2, make a crossed double crochet over each one we crocheted in the previous row and finish with two double crochets. Rows 89 to 160: Repeat rows 85, 86, 87, and 88. Rows 161 to 164: Crochet these 4 rows in double crochet and thus finish crocheting our scarf. Now we are going to make an edge on the part that has the central point. Without cutting the yarn, go back and make 4 chains. Hook them with a slip stitch in the starting chain of row 168. Continue making 4 chains and hook with a slip stitch in the last double crochet of row 167. Continue making 4 chains and joining them with a slip stitch to the next double crochet, until reaching the beginning of the scarf.
A special touch with tassels
To give it a more special touch, we are going to make 2 tassels and attach them to each end of the scarf. If you wish, you can make a third tassel to hang in the center of the scarf. Take the yarn ball and cut two strands of about 20 cm each. Then, wrap the yarn around the palm of your left hand up to 40 times. Now, remove it from your hand and, with one of the cut strands, thread it through the middle of the threads. Tie it quite tightly so it doesn't come loose. Then, with the other strand, wrap it around the threads, leaving about a centimeter, and make a tight knot. Now cut the threads at the bottom, through the center. The tassel is now formed. All that remains is to even out the strands, sew them to our scarf, and we can now show it off.
