HOW TO MAKE THE ROMPER WITH RUFFLES?
Size 4-6 months
Front
Start at the crotch. With 2.5 mm knitting needles, cast on 36 sts. and work 10 rows in garter stitch. Then, work 8 sts. in garter stitch, 20 sts. in stockinette stitch, and 8 sts. in garter stitch until you have 5 cm (see photos). From here, on the right side of the work and in every row, increase 1 st. on each side, between the garter stitch and the stockinette stitch, until you have 15 increases on each side. In the next row, increase 6 sts. at once on both sides, which, joined with 8 sts. from the edges, form 14 garter stitches that we work for 10 rows. Then, all in stockinette stitch, and begin the pattern with white Caricia Perlé, making 1 white st. every 5 sts. in this row and the next. After 6 rows, alternate the white st. with the previous ones (see photos). At 17 cm, begin the armhole and raglan. To make the armhole, bind off 5 sts. on each side and continue with the raglan, decreasing 1-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-1-1. At 5 cm from the armhole, shape the neck. Bind off the 7 central sts. and then, 5-3-1-1.
Back
The same stitches as the front and the same number of garter stitch rows, but in the middle of them, make 4 buttonholes distributed along the back. In this back part of the ruffled romper, the increases are made from the beginning, making 22 increases on each side. Work 10 rows in garter stitch (without increases) and continue with stockinette stitch. At 26 cm from the beginning, divide into two parts to make the back openings. Continue with one side, making the armhole and the raglan decreases the same as the front. Here, the neck is not shaped; it is closed straight across.
Sleeves
Cast on 46 sts. 8 rows in elastic stitch (1-1). The sleeve up to the armhole is 17 cm. Along its length, 7 sts. must be increased on each side, distributed after the armhole bind off 5 sts. and in the raglan decrease 16 sts. on each side 1 by 1, without making 2 sts. as in the body. In the back neck opening, pick up the necessary stitches to make a strip of 6 rows in garter stitch. On one side are the buttonholes and the buttons on the other. Sew the sides, sew the sleeves and adapt them to the body.
Ruffles
To make the ruffles, pick up stitches from the body at the desired height. In the first row, work the stitches you have picked up, but in the next, work 2 stitches and increase 1 stitch all along the row. Work 7 rows in stockinette stitch and finally 2 rows in garter stitch and bind off all stitches. As a finish, work 1 row of crochet in white slip stitch. For the neck, work 3 rows of crochet slip stitch. Finally, attach the buttons to the back neck opening and the crotch.
