Japanese shawl

The shawl you were looking for is called the Japanese Shawl and was designed by Bea Jiménez. This adorable shawl is ideal for a multitude of occasions, such as a long walk on the beach or a very special dinner. Without a doubt, only Caricia Perlé nº5 could give it that characteristic softness and freshness, and now you can knit your own by following the pattern below.

HOW TO MAKE THE JAPANESE SHAWL?

Stitches used: single crochet, slip stitch, double crochet, chain stitch. *Tips: The number of chains may vary depending on whether your stitch is looser or tighter, as will the hook size. This one is knitted with a 2.75 hook.

Chain 10 stitches and join with the first stitch with a slip stitch, forming a ring. Chain 3, turn your work, and knit one double crochet in each double crochet (19 + the chains = 20 double crochets). Turn your work, chain 3, knit 1 double crochet in each double crochet until the end of the row.

Turn your work, chain 4, and knit 1 double crochet in each double crochet, leaving one chain space between stitches. Turn your work and begin with 10 chains, skip one stitch and attach with a single crochet, 5 chains, skip a space and single crochet (repeat the sequence 3 times forming 3 arches). When you reach the center, chain 10, single crochet, and chain 10, forming two arches that will be the center, and in a mirror image, repeat the sequence of 5 chains (repeat 3 times) and finish with 10 chains.

Turn your work, and in the 10-chain space, knit 10 double crochets. Join with a slip stitch to the first group of 5 chains, chain 5, and join with a slip stitch to the other group of 5 chains. When you reach the center, knit 10 double crochets in both 10-chain spaces and repeat the same on the other half. Turn your work and repeat everything again. This row would be one stitch in each double crochet of the previous row. When you reach the first 5-chain space, join with a slip stitch, chain 5, and continue the sequence. The next row would be the same: chain 4 to go up, 1 double crochet in each double crochet separated by one chain between stitches.

As we progress, more fans are formed to join fans. Continue repeating the rows as before, and in the third row, skip a space at the end of the fan and the first space of the next, and continue knitting until the desired width and length are achieved.

*It is typical of the Japanese shawl to adorn it with 3 large tassels that will be sewn in the center of the shawl and both ends.
