Pattern Instructions
This clutch is crocheted in two pieces. First, we will crochet the base of our bag, and then we will crochet the flap, which we will later sew with the help of a tapestry needle. To sew the flap, I recommend using a large plastic needle that the Cordón can fit through, as it won't snag when sewing and will be much easier.
Base
To begin the bag, we will start by crocheting the base as follows. Chain 22 + 1 turning chain, which will not count as a stitch unless otherwise specified. R1: Starting from the second chain from the hook, work sc in each stitch around the chain, you will have a total of 44 sc. We will crochet in a spiral, so you should mark the first stitch of each round with a stitch marker. R2 and R3: sc in each stitch through the back loop only. R4: Work 10 sc, in the 11th and 12th stitches, work sc inserting your prong, finish the round by working sc in each stitch. Remember to work through the back loop. R5 to R10: Work sc in each stitch through the back loop only. R11: Work 21 sc through the back loop and in stitches 22 and 23, you should insert the prong, finish the round by working sc and make a slip stitch in the first stitch of the round. Leave a long tail and cut the yarn. Now let's crochet the flap.
Flap
Next, we are going to crochet the flap of our clutch. In this case, the first dc of each round is replaced with 3 chains that will count as a stitch. R1: MR of 3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc. R2: Inc of dc, 2 dc (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc) in the 2 ch space from the previous round, 2 dc, inc of dc = 10 dc. R3: Inc of dc, 4 dc (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc) in the space, 4 dc, 1 inc of dc. R4: Inc of dc, 6 dc, when you reach the chain space, work 1 dc, place the carabiner, and work 2 sc in the space to secure it, finish by working 1 dc in the same space, finish by working the remaining 6 dc and work an inc of dc in the last stitch. Without cutting the cord, chain 1 and make sc around the top edge to achieve a better finish. The stitches will be distributed as follows: 8 sc, 2 sc within the magic ring, and 8 sc. You will have a total of 18 sc distributed. Leave a long strand to sew later.
Finishing
Now you just need to sew your flap to the base you previously crocheted. To do this, center the flap well using the 18 central stitches of the clutch and, with the help of a tapestry needle, sew one side to the other, catching only the back loop of each stitch. Finish well and hide any excess yarn ends as much as possible. Now all that's left is to attach your strap and show off your cord clutch.
