How to adapt a pattern
Many of you ask us about sizes or adaptations of our patterns. Today we're giving you some tips on how to do it yourself very easily.
If you enjoy handicrafts, follow our blog, and want to make one of our free patterns in a different size or measurement than the one we've made, you'll love this post. Today we're telling you how to adapt a pattern to the size you need. The first thing you should do is have the measurements of the person or, alternatively, of a garment with the characteristics of the one you want to knit: waist length, back width, waist circumference, hip circumference, armhole, sleeve length, and cuff width. The next step will be to knit a 10 x 10 cm swatch with the needles and yarn indicated in our pattern, and from there, see the stitches and rows we made and calculate, with a simple rule of three, those you need for your measurements. Example: We take as a basis the swatch with 20 stitches and 27 rows, for every 10 cm. To find out how many stitches we should cast on, we do the following calculation: if 10 cm corresponds to 20 stitches, then 44 cm will correspond to: 44 (cm) x 20 (stitches) divided by 10 (cm) = 88 stitches. This same calculation will have to be done for each part of the garment. We hope our explanation helps you! As always, we are at your disposal for any questions.
