Wool felt elf

Christmas is just around the corner. That's why we propose a tender and warm doll to decorate your home or tree: a wool elf, which will fill your home with color, life, and charm. Follow the steps and in a couple of afternoons, you'll have it.

YOU WILL NEED

For a 47 cm elf.

Caricia Clásica wool, COL Nº 041, 043, 033, 061.
Knitting needles.
Yarn needle.
Stuffing wadding.

STITCHES USED:

Abbreviations: Stitch: st. Row: R.

Garter stitch: garter st (see tutorial: garter st )
Loop stitch: loop st.

It works like this:

On the right side of the work: work the first st from the right, and knit the rest as follows:

*Insert the needle as if to knit 1 st, but pull out the yarn with your thumb, stretching until it reaches the appropriate size (approx. 4 cm). Then, insert the needle and knit the st, then decrease, passing the previous st over*. Repeat until the end of the R.

The wrong side of the work is knitted in purl st. Stockinette stitch in stripes 1: * knit 2 Rs in Col Nº 043 and 2 Rs in Col Nº 033 *. Repeat from * to *. Stockinette stitch in stripes 2: * knit 2 Rs in Col Nº 041 and 2 Rs in Col Nº 033 *. Repeat from * to *. (See tutorial: stockinette st )

GAUGE:

In stockinette stitch: 10 cm X 10 cm = 22 sts x 24 Rs.

HOW TO MAKE THE ELF?

Hat

With Caricia wool COL Nº 033, cast on 50 sts and knit 4 Rs in garter stitch. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch for 78 Rs, decreasing every 4 Rs 1 st on both sides until the 56th R, from this R knit without decreasing.

On the 74th R, bind off the remaining stitches.

Bind off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew both sides on the right side of the work (see tutorial: sew seams)

Body

In color Nº 041, cast on 40 sts and knit 26 Rs in garter stitch, decreasing in the last 2 Rs 1 st on both sides.

To close, thread a yarn needle through all stitches, pull to gather, and sew, closing the circle.

Sew both sides to close the body.

Stuff with wadding.

Beard

See stitches used.

With Caricia Clásica wool Col Nº 061, cast on 10 sts and knit 12 Rs in loop stitch (see stitches used), increasing in the 2nd R and 4th R 1 st on both sides. Then decrease in the 8th R and 10th R 1 st on both sides. Bind off and leave a tail for sewing.

Nose

For the nose, cast on 15 sts and knit in stockinette stitch for 8 Rs, decreasing in the 6th R, 1 st on both sides.

In the last R, thread the yarn needle through all stitches, pull and gather. Secure.

Sew the two sides, forming a small cup. Leave a tail to sew to the beard.

Stuff with wadding.

Arm (make 2)

For the arms, cast on 10 sts with Col. Nº 041 and knit in stockinette stitch in stripes 2, combining the two colors, for 38 Rs. In the 36th R, decrease 1 st on both sides.

Thread the yarn needle through all stitches, pull and gather. Secure.

Sew the two sides to form the arm.

Stuff with wadding.

Leg (make 2)

With Col Nº 043, cast on 12 sts and knit in striped stockinette stitch 1 for 50 Rs. In the 42nd R, increase 1 st on both sides and work 8 more Rs, decreasing in the penultimate R 1 st on both sides. The last 6 Rs are knitted in a single color.

To close the remaining stitches, thread a yarn needle through all stitches, gather and secure. Sew one side to the other to form the leg.
