Christmas Mitten

HOW TO MAKE THE CHRISTMAS MITT?

ABBREVIATIONS

CH - Chain

MR - Magic Ring

SL ST - Slip Stitch

SC - Single Crochet

HDC - Half Double Crochet

DC - Double Crochet

TR - Treble Crochet

INC - Increase

DEC - Decrease

SPP - Small Picot Stitch

LPP - Large Picot Stitch

PATTERN

Clarifications

- All single crochets are worked by inserting the hook in the middle of the single crochet of the previous row, instead of into the top loops as in a normal single crochet.

- We will start by crocheting the thumb and set it aside until it's time to join it to the body of the mitt.

THUMB

1. MR - 5sc (5 st)

2. 5inc (10 st)

3. - 10. All sc (10 st)

Close with sl st and cut yarn.

BODY

1. MR - 6sc (6 st)

2. 6inc (12 st)

3. 1sc - 1inc (x6) (18 st)

4. 2sc - 1inc (x6) (24 st)

5. - 23. All sc (24 st)

24. *Thumb joining*: 1sc (in body) - 6sc (in thumb) - skip 2sc (in body) - all sc (in body) (28 st)

25. - 32. All sc (28 st)

33. 1sl st - 1ch. Repeat all around.

Close with sl st and cut yarn.

Sew the small hole between the thumb and the body of the mitt with a tapestry needle.

DECORATIONS

*spp: 1sc - 2ch - 1sc in the 2nd ch from the hook - 1sc in the same stitch as the first sc)

*lpp: 1sc - 3ch - 1sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook - 1sc in the 3rd ch from the hook - 1sc in the same stitch as the first sc

Fasten off and cut yarn.

Do not stuff. Fasten off, cut yarn and sew with a tapestry needle, along with the leaves, to the body of the mitt.
