Clarifications

-        We will crochet the bag in one piece (handles separately). We will do it in a circular way, starting from the base, closing each round.

-        VERY IMPORTANT: Although we crochet in a circular way, we will turn the work in each round, that is, one right side and one wrong side.

-        The technique used is Tapestry, so you will have to carry the strands of all colors as you crochet.

PATTERN

Bag

Make a foundation chain of 64ch.

Round 1: (Color 010) Chain 2 (does not count as the 1st double crochet of the round) and make a double crochet in each chain. When you reach the end of the chain, with a total of 64 stitches, in that same last chain, make 2 more dc, so you will have a total of 3 dc in that last ch. Return along the opposite side of the chain making one dc in each ch, and in the last one make 2 dc which, together with the first of the round, will make 3 dc in that last ch. In this way, you will have a chain of 64ch all surrounded by double crochets with 3 dc in each corner ch. You will have a total of 130 stitches.

*If you want it wider or narrower, you just have to modify the number of starting chains by increments of 10, either more or less, but always increasing or decreasing the initial 64 by 10ch increments.

Round 2: (Now we start mixing colors). Follow the chart below for 38 rounds. In each round, you will have 130 stitches.

*In all rounds of the chart, we will start each round by chaining 2, which will NOT count as the 1st stitch, and we will finish it by closing with a sl st.

*Remember that even though it is circular, you have to turn the work in each round and crochet one from the right side and one from the wrong side (the inside) of the bag.

Round 40: (Color 010) All hdc (130 stitches). Chaining 1 at the beginning that will not count as the 1st stitch.

Round 41: (Color 010) All hdc (130 stitches). Chaining 1 at the beginning that will not count as the 1st stitch.

Round 42: (Color 010) All sl st. Fasten off and cut yarn.

Handles

(Color 010)

Make a foundation chain of 130ch

Round 1: Chain 2 (does not count as the 1st double crochet of the round). Make a double crochet in each chain. When you reach the end of the chain, with a total of 130 stitches, in that same last chain, make 5 more dc, so you will have a total of 6 dc in that last ch. Return along the opposite side of the chain making one dc in each ch, and in the last one make 5 dc which, together with the first of the round, will make 6 dc in that last ch. In this way, you will have a chain of 130ch all surrounded by double crochets with 6 dc in each corner ch. You will have a total of 268 stitches.

Round 2: All sl st (268 stitches). Fasten off and cut yarn.

*If you want the handle to be longer or shorter, you just have to make more or fewer chains in the initial chain; they don't need to be a multiple of anything.

*Repeat the whole process to have a total of 2 handles.

Assembly

Sew the handles to the bag with a tapestry needle. I attached them on the outside so they are visible, but you can attach them on the inside if you prefer.

Optional: Add lining and zipper.
