HOW TO MAKE THE CARICIA RECICOTON TROPICLUTCH?
ABBREVIATIONS:
- bk st: brick stitch
- sc: single crochet
- ch: chain
PATTERN:
*In this pattern we are going to learn how to make a new stitch, which I have called 'brick stitch', which is as simple as making an odd number of starting chains and alternating one single crochet and one chain throughout the entire row. Always with one chain to start each round and, always, single crochets on top of the single crochets of the previous round. I've included a sample chart above for you to see it more easily. Beginning: We make a chain with 59ch and one turning ch. R1: *1sc-1ch (skip 1ch below)* Repeat throughout the row. Continue with bk st for 80 rounds. We start the decreases (img.1): R81: skip the 1st sc and the 1ch of the round and work the row normally. Repeat for 28 more rounds until we are left with a round of a single sc. We will have a piece like this (img.2): We make a complete round around the entire edge by single crocheting. Fold the straight part in half, so that it forms an envelope shape, and sew the sides (img.3). I joined them with slip stitch, but you can do it with a tapestry needle, as you prefer. On the flap, I added fringe by making small tassels along the entire edge. You can add a lining with a zipper and sew the chain to it, so that it doesn't create tension in the crocheted piece.
