HOW TO MAKE THIS PATTERN WITH CARICIA CALCETINES VIAJEROS?
- We are going to work with the "false crochet" technique, which involves crocheting in such a way that the result will look like knitting.
- We will work in rows, always making a turning chain at the beginning of each row and turning the work.
- Remember, throughout the entire chart, to make the slip stitches and half slip stitches through the back loop.
- hSLST(bl): this stitch is the same as the slip stitch, but taking a yarn over before inserting the hook through the stitch. That is, yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, and pull the last loop through the two loops on the hook.
- SLSTINC: these increases are as simple as making two slip stitches in the same stitch of the previous row.
- SLSTDEC: these decreases are made by picking up the back loops of the next two stitches you find in the row and, with them on the hook, making a normal slip stitch.
- We will start by making as many chains as necessary for the chosen size and then we will make as many rows as indicated by the chart/pattern.
- This will create a rectangular shape that we will join to form a "tube" and, at one end, we will make the toe with the normal crochet technique.
PATTERN
Size S/M/L: Start (4.5mm hook): make 60/70/80 chains
- All SLST(bl)
31. 29/34/39SLST(bl) - 2SLSTINC(bl) - 29/34/39SLST(bl) 32. 28/33/38SLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 4hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 28/33/38SLST(bl) 33. 27/32/37SLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 8hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 27/32/37SLST(bl) 34. 26/31/36SLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 12hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 26/31/36SLST(bl) 35. 25/30/35SLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 16hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTINC(bl) - 25/30/35SLST(bl) 36. - 45. All hSLST(bl) 46. 25/30/35SLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 16hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 25/30/35SLST(bl) 47. 26/31/36SLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 12hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 26/31/36SLST(bl) 48. 27/32/37SLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 8hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 27/32/37SLST(bl) 49. 28/33/38SLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 4hSLST(bl) - 1SLSTDEC(bl) - 28/33/38SLST(bl) 50. 29/34/39SLST(bl) - 2SLSTDEC(bl) - 29/34/39SLST(bl) 51. - 55. All hSLST(bl) - Join the entire side of the rectangle (the last 60/70/80 stitches) with the initial 60/70/80 chains using slip stitches. This will form a tube. - Without cutting the yarn, take the 3.5mm hook, make a turning chain and start the toe:
- 55SC
- *3SC - 1SCDEC* Repeat from * to * (44 Stitches)
- *2SC - 1SCDEC* (33 Stitches)
- *1SC - 1SCDEC* (22 Stitches)
- All SCDEC (11 Stitches)
- Cut the yarn and close the opening, with a tapestry needle, horizontally. - As you can see, the sizes only modify the length of the sock, as this type of stitch is very flexible and, in width, adapts to the three sizes. Therefore, you only need to consider the size when making the rectangle. The width and the toe are the same for all three sizes. *You can refer to the chart below, which shows the starting chains for each size and the heel area where we make the hSLST(bl). * Full chart for all sizes. Remember that after closing and forming "the tube" you have to make the toe.
