HOW TO KNIT THE CHECKERED HAT?
Measurements: Length approx. 22 cm and circumference approx. 47 cm.
With Caricia Melange yarn and size 4 knitting needles, cast on 85 sts, knit 2 rows in 1x1 rib stitch.
For the squares, knit 5 purl stitches, 5 knit stitches, and after 6 rows, reverse the stitches.
At 12 cm from the beginning of the work, decrease 1 stitch every two squares, for a total of one decrease in the same row.
At 14 cm, decrease 9 sts in the row, leaving the squares with 4 sts each.
At 17 cm, decrease 9 sts in the row.
At 20 cm, decrease 8 sts distributed, leaving the squares with 3 sts each.
At 21 cm, decrease 17 sts in the row.
In the next row, take the stitches 2 by 2, and in the following row, also 2 by 2.
In the next row, bind off all stitches.
Finally, sew the seam, ensuring it is not gathered at the top.
