WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CROCHET THIS PLANT POT COASTER?
Materials
- Caricia Viscosa in colors 104, 105, 108, 109 (1 ball of each). Although you can also choose other colors if you prefer.
- 3mm hook.
- Stuffing for amigurumis or yarn scraps.
- Tapestry needle.
Stitches used
- ch: chain
- mr: magic ring
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- inc: increase
- popcorn st: popcorn stitch
- picot: picot stitch
And what should you keep in mind before starting to crochet?
This project is made in pieces. First, a crochet plant pot base that consists of two pieces; then, the coasters are made, which will form the flowers. The minimum is two crochet coasters, but you can make as many as you need.
Some clarifications on the stitches used:
- Popcorn stitch: 4dc in the same stitch, leave the loop of the last stitch long, remove hook, insert it through the loop of the first double crochet and pull the loop you left long on the 4th through. Chain to secure.
- Picot stitch: 7ch – 1sl st in the 4th ch from the hook – 3ch.
- Throughout the project, each time a round or row begins with 1sc, we will make a chain that will NOT count as the 1st stitch of the round. However, if the round or row begins with 1dc, we will make 2ch that WILL count as the 1st stitch of the round. For example, if the round begins with 1dc and 1ch, we will make 3ch.
- In the entire pattern, all series of stitches enclosed in asterisks (*) will be repeated throughout the entire round.
Now, let's get to the pattern for this crochet plant pot coaster!
Crochet Plant Pot Coaster Pattern with Caricia Viscosa

Crochet Plant Pot Pattern
For the plant pot, we used Caricia Viscosa in dark green (109), and the pattern is as follows:
Piece 1 (base)
- R1 – Magic ring 12dc
- R2 – 12inc (24 sts)
- R3 – *1dc- 1inc* (36 sts)
- R4 – *2dc- 1inc* (48 sts)
- R5 – *3dc- 1inc* (60 sts)
- R6 – 60dc
- R7 – 60dc
- R8 – 60dc
- Cut and weave in the end.
Piece 2 (lid)
- R1 – Magic ring 12dc
- R2 – 12inc (24 sts)
- R3 – *1dc- 1inc* (36 sts)
- R4 – *2dc- 1inc* (48 sts)
- R5 – *3dc- 1inc* (60 sts)
- R6 – 60dc
- R7 – 60dc
- R8 – 60sl st
- Cut and weave in the end.
Now, you'll have a kind of "box" in your hands that we are going to fill with amigurumi stuffing or leftover yarn scraps (you know we love to make the most of everything at Lanas Caricia). Join the base and the lid with a tapestry needle, and voilà!

Crochet Coaster Pattern
For the coasters, we used Caricia Viscosa in dark green (109), light green (108) and red (150). The pattern is as follows:
Dark green piece (109)
- R1 – Magic ring and *1dc- 1ch* x12
- R2 – *2dc (in the ch space of the previous round) – 1ch* x12
- R3 – *3dc (in the ch space of the previous round) – 1ch* x12
Light green piece (108)
- R4 – *1sc in the middle dc of the group of 3dc from the previous round – 5ch – 1sc in the 1ch space of the previous round – 5ch* x12
- R5 – *Make the following series of stitches in one of the 5ch spaces from the previous round: 1sc – 3ch – 1dc – 1ch – 1dc – 1ch – 1dc – 1ch – 1dc – 3ch – 1sc. Make the following series of stitches in the next 5ch space: 1sc – 1picot – 1sc* x12
For the flowers (105)
- Flower: If you look closely, in the first series of the previous round, between the double and single crochets, we have 5 spaces. Hook yarn in the first 3ch space and make 1 popcorn stitch in each space, ending with a popcorn stitch in the last 3ch space (total 5 popcorn stitches).
- Petals: without cutting the yarn, turn your work and make a sl st in the top chain of the 1st popcorn stitch. Make 2ch and *1dc in the space between the next two popcorn stitches you encounter – 3ch – 1sl st on the side of the dc – 1dc in that same space between popcorn stitches – 3ch – 1sl st on the side of the dc*. Cut the yarn and weave in the end.
Now repeat this flower throughout the entire round, making a total of 12 flowers. You can alternate between red (105) and pink (104).
Weave in all remaining ends and make as many coasters as you need. To achieve a nice effect, you'll need to make between 2 and 3 crochet coasters, but you can make more if necessary.
You can even make the crochet plant pot larger if you want to fit more coasters. Just place them on top of the plant pot base and that's it! You've got it!
