HOW TO MAKE THE ELEGANCE MITTS?
Stitches used
ch: chain stitch
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
Clarifications
- Each mitt is made with ONE SINGLE rectangular piece, which we will then sew, leaving the opening for the thumb.
- The mitt in the pattern measures 24cm long by 8cm wide, but you can adapt it to the size you like best by making more starting chains and more rows for width.
- Remember that the starting chains must always be an odd number.
Pattern
Start by making 31ch
R1: 31sc
R2: *1sc-1dc* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row, which we will finish with 1sc.
R3: All sc (31sts)
R4 and all even rows: repeat R2
R5 and all odd rows: repeat R3
Continue repeating this two-row sequence until you reach row 23.
Now we have a rectangle. We will join this last row with the initial 31ch, forming a "tube" and we will proceed to close it. Do not cut the yarn.
Make one ch and close with sl st the first 8 stitches of each of the two ends. Close with a chain stitch and cut the yarn. Leave five stitches unclosed (thumb space) and join a new yarn in the stitch next to those five. Finish closing the "tube" by making sl st in the remaining 18 sts on each side. Chain stitch and cut the yarn.
Turn the mitt inside out, as we are closing it from the wrong side, for a neater finish.
Repeat the entire process to make the other mitt of the pair. There is no right or left, both are the same.
