Baby romper with buttons
Do you like to knit? We'll tell you how to make a very warm wool romper for the little one at home. It looks perfect with a blouse underneath, and the colorful buttons add a very original touch.
YOU WILL NEED:

For sizes 3 to 6 months.
- Caricia Baby Wool COL Nº 006, 1 skein, (you can choose any other color of this quality).
- Knitting needles Nº 3, 5 mm.
- Tapestry needle.
STITCHES USED:
- Garter stitch: g. st. (see g. st. tutorial)
- Rib stitch: rib st. (see rib st. tutorial)
GAUGE:
Knit with double yarn. In garter stitch: 10 x 10 cm = 24 sts X 40 rows.
HOW TO MAKE THE ROMPER:
Front
Cast on 55 sts and knit 4 rows in rib st. Continue working in g. st. and increase 1 st. at both sides in this row (57 sts.). Continue working in g. st. for 73 rows (18 cm). Waistband In the 74th row, increase 5 sts. at the beginning of the row. Continue knitting 16 sts. in rib st., which you should knit as follows: * bind off 1 st. every 3 sts. (I recommend you bind off by knitting 2 sts. together through the front loop*), you will have 12 sts. knitted in rib st. Continue knitting 25 sts. in g. st. and then knit another 16 sts. in rib st., decreasing as follows: * bind off 1 st. every 3 sts. (2 sts. together through the front loop.)*, you will have 12 sts. knitted in rib st. and continue, increasing another 5 sts. at the end of the row. You have a total of 59 sts. Continue knitting 5 more rows in rib st., working the central 25 sts. in g. st. To close the waistband, bind off the first 17 sts. and the last 17 sts. Bib To make the bib, continue working the central 25 sts. in g. st. for 32 rows (7 cm). Continue knitting in rib st. for 6 rows, increasing 1 st. at both sides in the 1st row. Bind off.
Back
Work the same as the front, but without making the bib. Waistband When you reach the 74th row, work the 1st row in rib st. decreasing as follows:* knit 6 sts. and work the next 45 sts. by taking the sts. 2 by 2 (knitting 2 sts. together through the front loop), knit the remaining 6 sts. You have a total of 30 sts. Continue working in rib st. for 4 more rows. Bind off. Straps (make 2)
Cast on 6 sts. and knit in g. st. 120 rows. Bind off. Leave a long tail for sewing to the body.
CONSTRUCTION AND FINISHING
Sew the front to the back (see tutorial: sewing seams).
