Cardigan with pom-poms
Pom-poms add a fun touch to children's clothing. Don't you think? Here's the free pattern for this pom-pom cardigan that we knitted with Caricia Merino yarn.
YOU WILL NEED:
- Caricia Merino yarn color 061 (2 balls) and color 053 (1 ball)
- Knitting needles 3.5 mm
HOW TO MAKE THE POM-POM CARDIGAN:
We will start the pom-pom cardigan from the top, all at once. With Caricia Merino yarn and 3.5 mm knitting needles, cast on 64 sts, distributed as follows: 2 sts for the front, increasing 1 st in every row. 16 sts for the sleeve. 20 sts for the back. 16 sts for the other sleeve. 2 sts for the other front. All groups are separated by 2 sts, and in each row, we will increase 1 st before and 1 st after these 2 sts. Always on the right side row; the wrong side row, being garter stitch, is also always knit. The V-neck is made by increasing 1 st at the beginning and end of each row until a total of 16 sts are reached on each side. At 9 cm from the beginning, separate all parts onto stitch holders.
Back
Pick up the sts from the back. In the first row, increase 2 sts, and in the third row, another 2 sts on each side. Continue straight until it measures 28 cm from the neck. Bind off all sts.
Front
Pick up the sts from the front, increasing the same as the back, 2 sts in one row and 2 sts in another row. Continue for the same number of rows as the back and bind off all sts. The other front is done the same way but in reverse.
Sleeve
Pick up the reserved sts for the sleeves. In the first row, increase 1 st, and in the 3rd row, another st on each side. Along the sleeve, decrease 7 sts, distributed evenly, until it measures 28 cm from the neck. The other sleeve is done the same way. Before seaming the sides and sleeves, pick up sts along the front edges and neck to make the red trim, which will be 9 rows. Now seam the sleeves and sides, and then you can make the red trim at the bottom (9 rows). All rows of the trims are worked in knit stitch to form a curl. The curl on the sleeves is made at the end of the beige section, and then change the yarn.
Pom-poms
Make 2 pom-poms and sew them over the 2 decorative buttonholes. On the inside, attach two snap fasteners to close.
